Role Models 
                                     

                              My first role model is Sharon Draper. She is a professional educator and award winning writer. She was the 1977  National Teacher of The Year. She won the Coretta Scott-King Award 5 times. She is also the New York Times bestselling author. Sharon was born April 11, 1952, she is currently 62 years old. Sharon went to Pepperdine University. 









                       My second role model is Sharon Flake. Sharon Flake is an American writer of young adult literature. She has lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her daughter for many years. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in English. She was born December 24, 1955. Sharon attended Simon Gratz High School and University of Pittsburgh. 

                     

My third role model is my 4th grade teacher Chrissie Messina. She is my favorite teacher in the whole wide world. She is amazing, I can talk to her about anything. She is going to college to become a counselor. SHE IS THE BEST! 

                             Langston Hughes 

       James Mercer Langston Hughes known by his famous name Langston Hughes, was a poet, born February 1, 1902 in Joplin Missouri. He died May 22, 1967 in New York City. Langston won many rewards for his poems. Hughes colleges were Lincoln University and Columbia University. 

      When you think of Langston Hughes, you think of Maya Angelou. They are both twentieth century poets. They did not let their humble beginnings decide their fate.While both poets shared a mutual goal to achieve racial equality, Angelou was equally interested about ending gender inequality and empowering women. 

      My favorite poem by Langston Hughes is I Am America, when I was in 5th grade my entire grade had to memorize it and recite it at our black history program. I enjoy reading Langston Hughes because his poems are knowledgeable and enjoying. I also like Langston's poems because I enjoy reading about slavery and many of his poems are about slavery. 

                                                         Maya Angelou 

                Maya Angelou was an African American poet, dancer, actress, and singer. She published 7 autobiographies, three book of essays, and several books of poetry. Maya was born April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, MO. She died recently on May 28, 2014 in Winston-Salem, NC. She had one sun, Guy Johnson. She had two husbands (Paul du Feu and Enistasious Tosh Angelos). 

              My favorite poem by Maya Angelou is Still I Rise. I really love the sass in the poem. I love the determination and courage. Maya Angelou is one of my role models.

  What was my favorite class in summer school ?

         My favorite class in summer school would be...... Mrs. Foster- Language Arts. She is my favorite class because I love writing, and we do a lot of writing in her class.

     Also because Mrs. Foster is very nice and I love her personality. She will not lie to you, she will tell you what she really thinks and whats on her mind. She is not sneaky and she is very gifted and talented with her words. She is neat and I love Mrs. Foster, I can tell that she will be one of those teachers that I will have a special bond with. 

        My other favorite class is Mrs. Hill. I love typing and reading, and we do a lot of that in her class. And now I am also addicted to blogging, I think it is very neat. Blogging is something that I now do daily. Maybe you should start a blog! 

     Mrs. Hill is very kind and and nice. I can also tell that me and Mrs. Hill will have a close bond.

Which was my favorite college visit? Why?

Well we visited 2 colleges 1.) Florissant Valley Community College 2.) Maryville University. 

   

My favorite college visit was Maryville University. It was my favorite college visit because I enjoyed the 1 hour presentation and the 1 hour guided tour. I enjoyed the events that occurred because we were able to interact and ask questions. The presentation got me prepared for what to look forward to when getting ready for college.  And I loved the way they feed us buffet style, and their fries and chicken tenders were so delicious and hot ! 

    Maryville University is surely my future college !

      What Makes ME Who I Am Today ?

My mother makes me who I am today. Shes the reason I push harder and harder to get my needs and wants. Shes the reason I am here today. Shes the reason I make good choices and think about what I do before I do it. I feel like if what I am doing does not make my mother proud, then it does not make me proud. Once again, my mother makes me who I am today.

                                   Kevin Durant

         Kevin Wayne Durant is an African American professional basketball player. He plays on Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team. He was born September 29, 1988, born in Washington, D.C. He is currently 25 years old. His position is small forward and power forward. His number is #35. 

           He is 6 ft. and 9 inches. He played in a movie called "Back For The Future". His siblings are Rayvonne Pratt, Brianna Pratt, and Tony Pratt. His mother is Wanda Pratt. His father is Wayne Pratt. 

        Kevin Durant was the MVP of 2014. During his speech he recognized his mother. 

   

                                       Making My Business Card 

            My business card was a card with veggies on it, also the card included my name, my school, my gmail, and my phone number. My business is a cooking and catering business, so I named it Kekes Kookin & Katerin. I hope that one day my business can become famous and  you will buy dishes from me.
         My business card is going to be neon pink, which is going to bring out the green and orange on my papers.

      If I Could Start My Own Business........


             If I could start my own business I would name it "Keke's Kookin & Katerin" because I love cooking. I would cater to anyone and everyone, there would be no racism involved. I would make desserts and regular food. I would make drinks and everything else. Everyone would love me and I would be a very popular business in town, no one could ever say anything bad about Kekes Kookin Katerin.

                              Nelson Mandela 

          Nelson Mandela was a very important man. He was the first black president in South African in 1994, he served as president until 1999. He died December 8, 2014. He was a good man to all of his people. He went to prison for standing up for his rights. He was in prison for several years. 
    
         Nelson Mandela was born Rolihlahla Mandela on July 18, 1918, in the tiny village of Mvezo, on the banks of the Mbashe River in Transkei, South Africa. 

          He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. July 18 is now declared Mandela Day. 

Education

                Many young men and women think that education does not matter in life, but they will realize when they get older and see how they need education in their daily lives. They also think that after high school they are done with school and learning. But they have to attend college and fulfill their dreams and start their careers.  
           
              Not many of my generation understand the importance of school and learning. Many of them think that walking across that stage and graduating from high school is going to get them their career, but they have to go farther into their career. Attending college should be every graduates top goal.
